Student Nomination Stories

Nominated by: Sara Ward

He has done his best to make music a part of who we and always corrects our mistakes even the silly ones we know better than to do. He is funny and kind, and even though I really didn't want too, he made me go to adjudication and made me be the best clarinet player I can be. Even when class is crazy and chaotic and we test his patience he still believes we can do it. Though through the complaining about music choices and trying to fake our instruments being broken so we wouldn't have to play, he still made us play and push ourselves to be the best we can. I will get home and not feel like practicing but I think about him saying "Your going to adjudication because you play well and put in the work" I force myself to practice even on the days I just want to go home and nap. He made me want to enter the talent show at our show on March 31st because of that same comment because up until this year I doubted myself I didn't think I played well, I was told I sounded horrible by my own family, but he made me see that not everything your parents tell you will be true. That is why I am nominating him for this award, because he is the funniest, most awesome middle school band teacher I have ever had. -Sara Ward -P.S. Thank you Mr. Lewis for pushing me to be my best self you have shown me a lot in the time I have known and I appreciate you very much, and you have made music a major part of my life. Something I can't live without. So thank you even though it does not express enough for everything you have done for me and our band class.
