Mr. King is a former middle school teacher of mine. During COVID, he has found new ways himself and students safe. He bought himself a small bus and turned it into his very own remote classroom. He travels throughout the state to teach different types of science projects depending on where he is located. He has been acknowledged several times between our local newspaper, The Lowell Sun, and various news stations. He has even made a home visit to a struggling students' home. They practice social distancing by the student sitting in a chair on the sidewalk with his laptop and Mr. King with his laptop on the hood of his bus. A few years back, he was able to get the support from the school department and principal approval and made a green house where students were able to grow plants, vegetables. At some point, they could even care for small reptiles, such as a turtle. If any teacher deserves this award it should be Mr. King!
